Potluck

Today we went to the CMA church that we enjoyed going to a few weeks back. They were having a sandwich potluck afterwards (which we already knew about), so we decided to stay even though it might have been awkward not knowing anyone. It wasn't awkward at all! The other two young married couples at the church came up to us right after church and invited us to sit with them. Then other College & Career age people came and introduced themselves, as well as many others from the church. Never did we feel pressured to make it our church home; everyone was just being really friendly. It was so nice.

World Championships of Sand Sculpture

Anybody heard of this sport before? We drove out to Harrison Hot Springs one afternoon and were amazed at the huge artwork right there on the beach! The sculptures are made using only sand and water. When the sculptures are complete, the artists spray them with some special formula that helps hold them together. After about a month, the local kids are allowed to kick the sculptures down. Doesn't that sound like fun?

This was one of John's favorites - the Terracotta Warriors!

This was one of Charlotte's favorites - do you see how his forehead is pressed against the glass of the tank?
